West Kingston, RI, May 31, 2011 — APC by Schneider Electric, a global leader in critical power and cooling services, today announced a tightly coupled software integration of APC InfraStruxureTM Central with HP Operations Manager, which allows IT managers to understand the impact of physical layer changes on IT systems and business applications.  IT managers can now detect and monitor real-time changes in power, cooling and environment through HP Operations Manager, thereby reducing risk, raising data center system availability and increasing energy efficiency. The Smart Plug-In (SPI) will integrate InfraStruxure Central’s device hierarchy, device status, and monitored data into the HP Operations Manager environment. The integrated solution:

  • Shares key data points of multi-vendor devices including alarm notifications and historical data on the targeted server deployment environment;

  • Provides a comprehensive look at how the physical and IT environments operate independently and influence each other, providing critical operating information on power and cooling capacity;

  • Brings visibility, control and automation needed for a more efficient enterprise to help maintain IT service levels.

“This integration allows customers to take advantage of the centralized view and reporting capabilities of APC’s InfraStruxure Central, in tandem with HP’s Operations Manager, to better monitor complete or comprehensive IT infrastructure,” said Jim Simonelli, Senior Vice President and CTO, APC by Schneider Electric. “APC and HP share the common goal of helping customers run more efficient data centers, by providing comprehensive management tools that deliver cost-effective solutions to improve business applications.”

"APC's InfraStruxure Central integration with HP Operations Manager is truly the right fit for our business," said Terrence Walsh, Director IT Planning, Consolidated Edison Company of New York. "When we heard of the integration, we knew that it would be able to help us meet our reliability and consolidation goals, and we have been happy to participate in the trial implementation of the program and provide feedback regarding our experience. We are now able to view and manage our physical infrastructure, including power and cooling in a single interface, instead of the multiple programs we had to access for the same information prior to this installation. Seeing all of this from one single software platform has allowed us to manage our data center and server farms much more efficiently and effectively. "

Among issues most critical to data center managers, multi-vendor infrastructure monitoring and the ability to access real-time data are of utmost importance. APC’s InfraStruxure Central software meets these needs with end-to-end monitoring and control of power, cooling, security, and energy usage from the building through IT systems. In addition, features such as smart alerts, customization capabilities, automatic device discovery, and mass configuration make InfraStruxure Central easy to implement in the data center.

HP Operations Manager is an industry leading suite of management products and solutions that help customers manage physical and virtual IT environments across data centers, client computers, and devices. This software provides a single management console for virtual and cloud infrastructure, in addition to dependency views for transactions, applications, business services, and infrastructure.
